(Nasdaq: SDC), the next-generation oral care company with the first medical technology platform for straightening teeth, has today announced the appointment of Linda Williams as an independent director to its Board of Directors. Her appointment as independent director will take effect on June 3, 2022, immediately following the annual meeting of shareholders of the Company to be held on the same date.
Ms. Williams is an accomplished executive who brings extensive business, regulatory and information security experience to the healthcare and insurance industries. Having held several senior management positions, she has a solid track record in creating successful business strategies that strengthen brands while reducing costs and driving growth. Ms. Williams is currently Senior Vice President and Head of Risk and Audit at Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, where she leads audit efforts and oversees enterprise-level business risk and investment, including cybersecurity.

Ms. Williams will join the audit committee of SmileDirectClub’s board of directors and increase the representation of diverse communities on the board. Following the appointment, SmileDirectClub’s Board of Directors will consist of eight directors, three of whom will be independent.
