Lubbock veterans receive free dental care

LUBBOCK, Texas (KCBD) — Some dentists in Lubbock are working with a nonprofit organization to provide services to veterans.

The program, Everyone for Veterans (E4V), with the help of the South Plains Dental Society and participating physicians in Lubbock, makes this possible at no cost to US veterinarians. Dentist Jordan Payne says it’s just a way of saying thank you.

“It’s been a great way for us to give back to veterans,” Payne said. “We’re just grateful for all the veterans who have served our country, and it’s a great way for me and the practice to give back.”

This is the first time Payne’s firm has participated in the program. He was paired with a veteran named Robert.

“We’ve done dental implants, lots of crowns, gum surgeries,” Payne said. “It’s going to transform her look and transform her smile.”

The partnership between E4V Dental Society and Lubbock Dentists has provided over $50,000 in dental care to veterans in our area.

“Everyone for veterans just got a grant,” Payne said. “That way they can market that and hopefully get more veterans to sign up, and more dentists to treat veterans.”

In Lubbock, more than 30 dentists have volunteered to be part of Everyone for Veterans. With such high turnout, the program can endorse more veterans and even expand its reach in our region to include parts of eastern New Mexico. As for Robert, Dr. Payne says his journey is almost over.

“We’re about 75% done,” Payne said. “He’s always cheerful and happy and he’s so grateful and it’s really great to build a relationship with him as he comes in for his dates.”
