Moshiri backs Vitor Pereira in battle for imminent Everton managerial appointment

Everton owner Farhad Moshiri and club chairman Bill Kenwright have come under fire after the Toffees embarked on a painful 2021-22 Premier League campaign that sees the Merseyside side just four points behind. ahead of the bottom three with nearly half the season remaining.

As expected, the club have parted ways with Rafa Benítez, and although former Everton striker Duncan Ferguson has taken care of the reins, the club must persist in finding a new manager as soon as possible if they are to hammer out a appropriate plan to avoid the unthinkable comes at the end of the quarter.

For Moshiri, this plan revolves around former FC Porto coach Vitor Pereira according to The Guardian. Pereira himself corroborated this claim when he gave an interview to SkySports while lifting the lid on his meeting with Moshiri as well as Kenwright and others involved with the club.

Pereira notably cut his teeth not only with Portuguese giants Porto, but also with Fenerbahçe as well as Olympiacos during a credible managerial career that included nine pieces of silverware in Portugal, Saudi Arabia, in Greece and China. But it also comes with some red flags as well; namely his relegation from the 2.Bundesliga with TSV 1860 Munich and his final stint with Fenerbahçe ending after just five months before he was sacked.

Frank Lampard could return to management with Everton

On the back of these concerns, it has been said that some inside the hierarchical structure of clubs view Pereira as a gamble and prefer other targets and one of those names is in the form of the former manager of the county of Chelsea and Derby. Frank Lampard.

Lampard has been out of work since parting ways with the Blues but could see Everton as the perfect club to redeem his credentials given the current situation.

Although they struggle on the pitch, the Toffees indeed have a cadre of players the former England international could work with while his track record of trusting young players could well suit Anthony Gordon and Nathan Patterson.

With Pereira reportedly set to drop his name from a list of managerial candidates who may run at Goodison Park, Lampard could well be in pole position for his return to the Premier League in the immediate future.
