Illinois schools can now participate in a new virtual version of Land of Smiles from the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation – the fun program that teaches kindergarten to third grade children about oral health care.

“We have temporarily moved the Land of Smiles program from a live performance to a virtual experience for students due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic,” said Lora Vitek, executive director of the Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation . “We have also refreshed the program with new characters who continue to teach young students the importance of oral health in an engaging and fun way that makes learning more effective.”

Land of Smiles’ new virtual experience features a 30-minute interactive video that can be used in the classroom or shared with students who are learning virtually. Brand new superhero characters on the show include Captain Super Grin, Caz Cavity, Terri Tooth Fairy, and Toothpick.

“Land of Smiles teaches children the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day, flossing daily, using fluoride rinses, eating healthy foods, and visiting their homes regularly. dentist, ”Vitek said. “The program has had a measurable impact on the children of Illinois. The Delta Dental of Illinois Foundation’s oral health education program has been offered free to schools in Illinois since 2007. The program has reached more than 426,000 students in approximately 900 schools.
