CHI PARTNERS WITH THE AMERICAN DENTAL ASSOCIATION TO PROVIDE FREE DENTAL CARE FOR CHILDREN

South Florida Community Health Inc. (CHI), is proud to host Give the kids a smile day on February 4, 2022. The annual event offers free dental screenings, cleanings, vanishings, sealants and giveaways for children ages 1-16.

“Every year we see children who have never been to the dentist that day,” said Dr. Sheri Watson Hamilton, DMD, dental director at CHI. “It’s a sad situation because lack of dental care can leave a child in pain or suffering with other health-related consequences.”

CHI, a not-for-profit healthcare company, is a beacon of hope providing access to high-quality healthcare for everyone, regardless of insurance status, income level or background since 1971. In an effort to mitigate the COVID-19 virus, various safety protocols have also been put in place to foster a safe and welcoming environment. As such, appointments will be required to ensure patient safety.

In partnership with the American Dental Association (ADA) Foundation, the Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program provides free oral health care to underserved children. Since 2003, local GKAS events have helped more than six million children access dental services with the help of dentists and healthcare organizations across the United States.

“With so much attention around the pandemic, it’s important to remember not to neglect routine health care,” Dr Watson-Hamilton said. “Children should not be deprived of good oral health, which studies show can have a positive impact on the overall health and well-being of the body.”

CHI will provide these free services for children at the following locations:
